1. Scope

This Privacy Policy explains how the Roll36 iPhone application (“Roll36,” the “App”) and the website where this policy is published handle information. In this policy, “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the developer of Roll36.

This policy covers the current version of the App. If a future version introduces accounts, cloud sync, analytics, or other data practices, we will update this policy before or when those practices take effect.

2. Privacy at a glance

  • No Roll36 account is required.
  • Your roll archive and imported photos are stored locally on your device.
  • We do not operate an advertising network or use cross-app tracking.
  • We do not sell or rent personal information.
  • Payments are processed by Apple through the App Store.

In Apple’s App Privacy terminology, information processed only on your device and never sent to the developer is not “collected” by the developer.

3. Information the App handles

On-device archive content

Roll36 lets you import photo scans and create an archive containing roll titles, dates, film brands and stocks, film formats, frame capacity, frame order, notes, favorites, and related settings. This content is kept in the App’s local storage on your device. We do not receive or have access to it.

App preferences

Display, language, and appearance preferences are saved on your device so the App can remember your choices.

Information you send to us

If you email us for support, we receive the information you choose to include, such as your email address, message, and attachments. We use it only to respond, troubleshoot, protect the App, and keep reasonable support records.

Website technical data

The website does not set advertising cookies or include analytics in its current version. Its hosting and network providers may temporarily process standard request information—such as IP address, browser type, requested page, and timestamp—to deliver the site, maintain security, and diagnose failures.

4. Photo permissions

Choosing scans to import

Roll36 uses Apple’s system photo picker. You decide which images to provide to the App. Selecting images does not give us access to your photo library, and the selected copies are stored in Roll36’s local app storage.

Saving a share card

If you choose “Save to Photos,” Roll36 asks for permission to add the generated image to your photo library. The App does not need permission to read your entire library for this action. You can change photo permissions at any time in iOS Settings.

5. Purchases and subscriptions

Roll36 uses Apple StoreKit for Pro purchases. Apple processes payment information and manages the transaction. We do not receive your card number or other payment credentials.

The App reads Apple-provided product and entitlement status on your device to display prices, complete purchases, restore purchases, and unlock paid features. Apple’s processing is governed by Apple’s privacy policy and App Store terms.

6. Sharing and disclosure

Roll36 does not sell personal information and does not disclose your local archive to advertisers or data brokers.

When you deliberately share a generated roll card using the iOS share sheet, the copy is delivered to the person, app, or service you select. That recipient’s privacy practices then apply. We do not control or receive the shared copy.

We may disclose information you send directly to us if reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights and safety, prevent abuse, or respond to a valid legal request.

7. Retention, control, and deletion

Because your Roll36 archive is stored locally, you control its retention. Deleting a roll in the App permanently removes that roll and the image copies stored for it in the App’s local container. Deleting the App removes its local data from the device, subject to any device backup or restore features you independently use with Apple.

A share card saved to your system photo library is a separate copy. Delete that copy from Apple Photos if you no longer want it.

We retain support correspondence only as long as reasonably needed to respond, maintain support history, meet legal obligations, or resolve disputes. You may ask us to delete support correspondence, subject to records we must retain by law.

8. Security

Roll36 limits exposure by keeping archive content on your device and by using Apple’s system services for photo selection and payments. Your device passcode, operating-system security, backups, and physical control of the device also affect protection of local data.

No storage or transmission method is completely secure. Please keep iOS current and protect access to your device.

9. Children’s privacy

Roll36 is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent personal information to us, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.

10. Changes to this policy

We may revise this policy when the App, website, or legal requirements change. We will post the updated policy here and change the “Last updated” date. If a change is material, we will provide additional notice where reasonably appropriate.

11. Contact

Questions, privacy requests, and support inquiries can be directed through the roll36app@outlook.com.
