1. Scope

This Privacy Policy explains how the Roll36 iPhone application (“Roll36,” the “App”) and the website where this policy is published handle information. In this policy, “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the developer of Roll36.

This policy covers the current version of the App, including its optional iCloud sync feature. We will update it before or when future versions introduce material changes to data practices.

2. Privacy at a glance

  • No Roll36 account is required.
  • Your archive is stored locally by default, with optional iCloud sync across your devices.
  • Your archive content is not read, viewed, downloaded, analyzed, or operated on by the developer.
  • We do not operate an advertising network or use cross-app tracking.
  • Payments are processed by Apple through the App Store.

In Apple’s App Privacy terminology, information processed only on your device and never sent to the developer is not “collected” by the developer.

3. Information the App handles

On-device archive content

Roll36 lets you import photo scans and create an archive containing roll titles, dates, film brands and stocks, film formats, frame capacity, frame order, notes, favorites, cameras, and display settings. The archive is stored in the App’s local storage on your device.

Optional iCloud sync

If you enable iCloud sync while signed in to iCloud, Roll36 syncs the archive content you choose with your iCloud account so your own devices can stay in sync. Roll36 does not operate a separate archive service, and the developer does not use your content for advertising or tracking. Apple’s iCloud terms and privacy practices also apply.

Developer access to your content

Roll36 is designed with privacy as a first priority. The developer does not read, view, download, analyze, modify, or otherwise operate on your local archive or iCloud-synced archive content. We can receive information only when you deliberately send it to us, such as in a support email.

App preferences

Display, language, and appearance preferences are saved on your device so the App can remember your choices.

Information you send to us

If you email us for support, we receive the information you choose to include, such as your email address, message, and attachments. We use it only to respond, troubleshoot, protect the App, and keep reasonable support records.

Website technical data

The website does not set advertising cookies or include analytics in its current version. Its hosting and network providers may temporarily process standard request information—such as IP address, browser type, requested page, and timestamp—to deliver the site, maintain security, and diagnose failures.

4. Photo permissions

Choosing scans to import

You decide which images to provide to Roll36. Selecting images does not give us access to your entire photo library. Selected copies are stored in the App and, if iCloud sync is enabled, may be synced with your iCloud account.

Saving a share card

If you choose “Save to Photos,” Roll36 asks for permission to add the generated image to your photo library. The App does not need permission to read your entire library for this action. You can change photo permissions at any time in iOS Settings.

5. Purchases and subscriptions

Pro purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. Apple processes payment information and manages the transaction. We do not receive your card number or other payment credentials.

The App checks purchase status to display prices, complete purchases, restore purchases, and unlock paid features. Apple’s processing is governed by Apple’s privacy policy and App Store terms.

6. Sharing and disclosure

Roll36 does not disclose your local archive or iCloud-synced archive to advertisers or data brokers. iCloud sync is private to the iCloud account that enables it; it is not a sharing feature with other Roll36 users.

When you deliberately share a generated roll card, the copy is delivered to the person, app, or service you select. That recipient’s privacy practices then apply. We do not control or receive the shared copy.

We may disclose information you send directly to us if reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights and safety, prevent abuse, or respond to a valid legal request.

7. Retention, control, and deletion

You control the archive’s retention. Deleting a roll in the App removes the local roll and its image copies, and requests deletion of the corresponding iCloud content when iCloud sync is enabled. If the device is offline, the deletion is kept pending until the network is available. Deleting the App removes local data from the device, but it does not by itself delete content already synced to your iCloud account; delete synced rolls in Roll36 first if you want that content removed.

A share card saved to your system photo library is a separate copy. Delete that copy from Apple Photos if you no longer want it.

We retain support correspondence only as long as reasonably needed to respond, maintain support history, meet legal obligations, or resolve disputes. You may ask us to delete support correspondence, subject to records we must retain by law.

8. Security

Roll36 limits exposure by keeping your archive on your device and, when you enable sync, with your iCloud account. Your device passcode, operating-system security, iCloud account security, backups, and physical control of the device affect protection of your data.

No storage or transmission method is completely secure. Please keep iOS current and protect access to your device.

9. Children’s privacy

Roll36 is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent personal information to us, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.

10. Changes to this policy

We may revise this policy when the App, website, or legal requirements change. We will post the updated policy here and change the “Last updated” date. If a change is material, we will provide additional notice where reasonably appropriate.

11. Contact

Questions, privacy requests, and support inquiries can be directed through the support@roll36.app.
