Terms of Use

1. Agreement and license terms

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and the developer of Roll36 (“we,” “us,” or “our”). They apply to your download, access, and use of the Roll36 iPhone application and related website.

The App is licensed through Apple’s App Store, not sold. The Apple Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies to the App and is incorporated into these Terms. These Terms supplement the Apple Standard EULA; if they conflict, the Apple Standard EULA controls to the extent of the conflict.

2. Eligibility

You must be legally capable of entering into these Terms. If you are below the age of legal majority where you live, a parent or legal guardian must approve your use. Do not use the App where its use would violate applicable law.

3. What Roll36 provides

Roll36 helps you organize digitized film photographs into rolls, add film and date details, browse a timeline, mark favorite frames, and create shareable roll cards. The current version stores archive content locally on your device and does not require a Roll36 account.

The App is an organizational tool, not a permanent backup service. You are responsible for keeping independent copies of important photographs and managing any device backups you choose to use.

4. Your content

You keep all rights you hold in photographs, notes, roll details, and other content you add to Roll36. The App processes that content on your device to provide the features you request. We do not claim ownership of it.

You are responsible for your content and must have the rights and permissions needed to import, store, export, or share it. Do not use Roll36 to infringe copyright, privacy, publicity, or other rights.

5. Pro purchases and subscriptions

Roll36 may offer paid features through Apple as an auto-renewable yearly subscription and/or a one-time lifetime purchase. Products, availability, local price, taxes, trial terms, and exact benefits are shown before purchase.

Yearly subscription

Payment is charged to your Apple ID when purchase is confirmed. A subscription renews automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the current period ends. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple account settings.

Lifetime purchase

A lifetime purchase is a non-consumable license to the paid App features offered for that product while Roll36 remains available and supported. It is not a promise that the App or every feature will operate forever.

Billing, restoration, and refunds

Apple processes billing. We do not control exchange rates, taxes, payment approval, or App Store refund decisions. Use “Restore Purchases” for eligible purchases associated with your Apple ID. Refund requests are handled under Apple’s policies and applicable law.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use the App unlawfully or violate another person’s rights;
• circumvent purchase, entitlement, usage-limit, or security mechanisms;
• reverse engineer, modify, redistribute, sublicense, or create derivative works except where applicable law permits it;
• interfere with the App, website, StoreKit, or related systems; or
• misrepresent an association with Roll36 or use Roll36 branding without permission.

7. Apple and third-party services

Roll36 uses Apple services such as the App Store, StoreKit, Photos picker, system share sheet, and iOS. Those services are governed by Apple’s terms and policies. A destination you choose for sharing is governed by its own terms.

We are not responsible for third-party services, their availability, or their handling of content you choose to provide to them.

8. Availability, updates, and changes

We may update, add, remove, suspend, or discontinue features to maintain, secure, or improve Roll36, comply with law, or respond to platform changes. Updates may be required for continued use. We do not guarantee support for every device, iOS version, file format, or third-party service.

9. Warranty disclaimer

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Roll36 is provided “as is” and “as available,” with faults and without warranties of any kind. We do not warrant uninterrupted operation, error-free storage, preservation of image quality or metadata, or compatibility with every device or image.

Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded. The warranty provisions of the Apple Standard EULA also apply.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of photographs, data, profits, goodwill, or business opportunity arising from Roll36.

Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for Roll36 during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim or the minimum amount required by law. These limits do not apply where prohibited.

11. Termination

You may stop using Roll36 at any time and delete it from your device. Your license may end automatically if you materially violate these Terms or the Apple Standard EULA. Provisions that by their nature should survive remain effective after termination.

12. General terms

If any provision is unenforceable, it will be limited or removed only to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will continue. A delay in enforcement is not a waiver.

Applicable law governs these Terms without depriving you of mandatory protections available under the laws of your country or region. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries as provided by the Apple Standard EULA.

We may revise these Terms as Roll36 or legal requirements change. The current version will be posted here with an updated date. Continued use after revised Terms take effect means you accept them, to the extent permitted by law.
